Shamrocked out / La fete de St. Patrick

Shane brought Keira and Reamonn down for the weekend, so as usual he wanted to kill something in the garden :-) The casualty this time was the low hedge behind the swings. This has really opened up the garden and looks great already. 

Shane et ses enfants sont venus pour le weekend pour fêter le St. Patrick. Comme chaque fois quand il viens avec le soleil, Shane a voulu tuer quelque chose dans le jardin. Alors, nous avons enlever la petite haie derrière du balançoire.

Keeping up with your older cousins is not always so easy, but little Reamonn knows when to recharge the batteries. The best time is when everyone is watching a movie! 

Les garçons ont beaucoup jouer et ont construit une cabane dans le jardin. Alors le petit Reamonn était épuisé, mais il a pris une sieste pendant le filme. 

Lent is a serious business in our house this year. So when Trace asked the kids what we should have for dinner, Gabi's answer was 'burger and chips', as Papa is off that for lent and can have it today! So Trace made the meal as traditional as it could be with GREEN beans and a little shamrock on each burger!

On fait le carême chez nous cette année. Je mange pas des frites (les enfants pensent que je mange des frites chaque jour au travail). Alors quand Maman a demandé qu'est ce qu'on peut manger pour le repas, pendant ce jour d'exemption du carême, Gabi a répondu 'des frites et burgers'. Trace a fait son mieux pour le faire a la façon irlandaise, ça peut explique le trèfle sur le burger! 

 

Celebrating St. Patrick's day would not be complete without a music session, so that's what we called the noise we made together on Sunday morning. Our group has a very strong percussion section, two bodhrans, a tambourine, an african drum and a triangle. The xylophone could also be included in the percussion section I think! 

C'est pas possible pour fêter le St. Patrick sans faire de la musique. Mais j'étais le seul qui a fait de la musique mélodique, j'avait une très grand section percussion avec!

12 days later / 12 jours plus tard

Her cake was a few days late, but she didn't mind and wanted to wait until she could share it with Jeanne and Gustave. That suited her parents down to the ground, who love having Jeanne and Gustave over for a chat! 

On a fêter avec son gâteau d'anniversaire quelque jours après son jour d'anniversaire. Mais c'était idéale, on a tous voulus attendre pour manger le gâteau avec Jeanne et Gustave. Nous étions a Paris le jour d'anniversaire, ce soir était la première opportunité de partager le gâteau ensemble.

Ladies in Langholz / Fruits au foret

What a beautiful sunny day. We had to go for a walk and top up our vitamin D levels! Trace brought our favourite apples; Pink Lady; for our snack on the walk. For a change we went to Switzerland for a walk and discovered the lovely forest Langholz in Allschwill. I reckon we'll be bringing the bikes there in a few weeks. 

Comme il faisait beau aujourd'hui. Nous avons dus sortir pour profiter du soleil. On est allés se promener dans la belle foret de Langholz en Allscwhill en Suisse. Pour notre gouter, nos pommes preferés; Pink Lady! 

Playroomaversary / 5 ans de salle de jeu

The playroom was finished and opened to the kids to use today 5 years ago, 09/03/2008. Every year on this day we measure the kids and mark the wall with their height. On that first day, five years ago we drew their silhouettes, in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 we have just marked the wall. Seeing the marks get higher every year makes us think of how they have changed. 

La salle de jeu des enfants était ouverte, il y a 5 ans aujourd'hui. Chaque année, le 09/03, on mesure les enfants et mettre un trait sur la mur pour suivre leur croissance. Ici, un photo qui était pris en mars 2009, mars 2010, mars 2011 et mars 2012!

Family Friends / Les proches amis

No visit to Paris is complete for us without seeing our good friends, the Leclerc family. Michele is the woman who made our family possible, without her, this blog would not exist (neither would our family as it is today). The kids love meeting Béni and catching up with her.

On ne peut pas visiter la ville de Paris sans voir nos proches amis, la famille Leclerc. C'est Michele qui a nous aider avec notre première aventure en afrique. Sans elle, il n y aura pas ce blog, et ni notre famille comme c'est aujourd'hui. 

River cruise / Bateaux mouches

There are many ways to see Paris, one of the most enjoyable being on foot, but not when you are a child. Open top buses are a good way too, but our favourite way is the boat on the seine. The kids enjoyed the rest on the boat while getting to see the city.

Paris est une belle ville, il y a beaucoup des choses a voire, c'est possible de se promener autour pour visiter tous les monuments, mais pour les enfants c'est trop, alors on a pris les bateaux mouches pour regarder la ville de la seine. Impeccable, on a pu rester un meme temps que regarder tous les monuments . 

Eiffel Tower / La tour eiffel

It was worth the whole day spinning in the car to see the little one's reaction to the eiffel tower. Geraldine was super excited and loved it so much, she had to touch the base of it. We had a chinese and then got back to the metro for the trip home. We might have bit off a bit more than we could chew, the kids were knackered! 

Toute la journée dans la voiture pour ... la tour eiffel. La petite Gégé a presque mourir de joie, elle était très impressionnée par la tour et a du toucher sa fondation. Nous avons mangés dans une resto chinoise, pas loin du tour, et puis on a se promené pour rattraper la métro et nos lits!
